Amicalola Falls State Park was featured here before, but I had never stayed at the campground here before. As can be seen in the first post, this park is absolutely gorgeous. For anyone who likes waterfalls, the park is perfect and one can find plenty to do to keep themselves busy centering on the falls. Besides the falls (729 feet high!), the park also has a number of trails and other outdoor entertainment (zipline, anyone?). This is a smaller campground (24 sites) and there isn't a whole lot of privacy as these pictures show, but we still had a good time here.
Heritage Point Regional Park in Dalton, Georgia, is a lovely place to entertain yourself or just have a picnic. As you can see, the day was turning out to be picture perfect! There were few other people at the park during our lunch which seemed odd given the nice weather. The park has a wonderful open-air pavilion with a stage, concession area, picnic tables, and bathrooms.
Cloudland Canyon State Park has been featured here before, although the fabulous views experienced here the first year we visited were traded for a much more damp experience in 2025. The first night we were here, a terrible severe thunderstorm dumped a considerable amount of rain over a 2 hour period of time with a tornado warning to make the event complete. The Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center we visited the following day was flooded and muddy, so we spent time looking around the park (Cloudland Canyon) where there wasn't flooding happening instead of hiking the trails that we originally planned. These pictures are from the morning after the big storm, which turned out very foggy to get the day started.
