#Project365: Special Issue; Bannack, Montana, Part 3

In this final special issue about Bannack, I will continue from where I left off with yesterday's pictures at the church and then cross the main street and head back on the other side. While the pictures are good, there's nothing quite like actually being there.

Now for some inside shots:

#Project365: Special Issue: Bannack, Montana, Part 2

Today we will go inside some of the houses and buildings, including the Meade Hotel. I was lucky enough to be the first one through the gate upon arriving at Bannack, and it didn't really start getting busy there until I was getting ready to leave several hours later. There really is a considerable amount to take in at Bannack, from just walking through the town to learning about the history of the area. I wasn't aware that many of the buildings are open to the public until I decided to try to open a door. It was on the hotel; and to my surprise, it actually opened!

Walking through these places is taking a step back through time; one can get a sense of what things were like a hundred and fifty years ago. So many things that we take for granted today weren't around in those days. Electricity, running water, television, washers and dryers, refrigerators, computers, and telephones, are just a few items that didn't exist back then. Another chilling fact about those days: There were no cars or other modern forms of transportation. This was a very isolated outpost, as the nearest town was 25 miles away (quite a distance at the time).

Enjoy the pictures! Here are pictures from inside the Meade Hotel:

After realizing that many of the buildings are open to walk through, I continued through the town; here is what the tavern looks like inside:

This is what it looks like from the outside:
