Project365: Corbin, Kentucky

Beginning with this post, I shall lead up to another special set of posts highlighting another trip and more evidence of climate change and how it affects us. On this trip, I was horrified to be able to smell smoke from wildfires further southwest while traveling through Kentucky. While I am used to the smell west of the Great Plains nowadays; smelling it so close to my own state was rather discomforting. Despite the smell and the sights of thousands of dead ash trees lining the highways in Kentucky, there were many bright spots as well.

Project365: Smile

“We never know what a day will bring us, but one thing we do know is that every morning we can wake up, smile and hope for the best. SMILE, IT'S A NEW DAY!”

Project365: Live Wholeheartedly

“Never shy away from opportunity and wholehearted living. Never be fearful of putting yourself out there. The courageous may encounter many disappointments, experience profound disillusionment, gather many wounds; but cherish your scars for they are the proud emblems of a truly phenomenal life. The fearful, cautious, cynical and self-repressed do not live at all. And that is simply no way to be in this world.”

― Anthon St. Maarten

“The future is always unknown.
Live your own life.
Live in the moment.
Live so well in the present that when tomorrow never comes, you may have no regrets.”
Lailah Gifty Akita

Project365: Move Into Action

“We can block our blessings with one thought, one decision. Sometimes your blessing may require certain actions on your behalf. You asked for the job? Now, you must get dressed and go to the interview and prove yourself worthy of the position. When you move, you activate your faith. And, suddenly everything falls into place. Faith without works is dead.”

― Amaka Imani Nkosazana

Project365: Live Right Now

“Caring for someone is scary [...] But you can't let fear dictate your life [...] Don't live life hiding behind your past; live right now. When you find someone you want to spend forever with; you don't let them go, whether forever turns out to be a day or a year or a hundred years.”

― Nicole Williams

You should get dressed up, go dancing, drink grown-up cocktails, and have sex as much as you can before you're dead. (Peabody)”

Project365: Do What You Love

“If, in all that you wish to do, you begin by asking yourself: am I certain that I would wish to do this an infinite number of times? This should be for you the most solid centre of gravity . . . My doctrine says, the task is to live your life in such a way that you must wish to live it again - for you will anyway! If striving gives you the highest feeling, then strive! If rest gives you the highest feeling, then rest! If fitting in, following and obeying give you the highest feeling, then obey! Only make sure you come to know what gives you the highest feeling, and then spare no means. Eternity is at stake! This doctrine is mild in its treatment of those who do not believe in it. It has neither hell nor threats. But anyone who does not believe merely lives a fugitive life in the consciousness of it.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

Project365: Rules

“I don't pay no mind to rules. Seems to me, rules are things made up by scared people too afraid to die, so they can't live. Or too lazy to make their own decisions. Rules are for breakin', as far as I'm concerned.”
Suzanne Palmieri

Project365: Train Watching

“So when I watch trains, it makes me think about how much movement there is in the world. How every train has dozens of cars and every car has hundreds of parts, and all those parts and cars work day after day. And then there are all these other motions. People are born and die. Seasons change. Rivers flow to the sea. Earth circles the sun and the moon circles Earth. Everything whirring and spinning toward something. And I get to be part of it for a little while; the way I get to watch a train for a minute or two, and then it's gone.”
Jeff Zentner, The Serpent King

Project365: Mind Your Mind

“Mind your mind. Think of distinctive footprints. Insofar as all things move forward and not backward; avoid retrogressive thinking, imprison negative thoughts, build a strong wall against negativity, be optimistic enough to deduce the optimisms in pessimism, and think ahead of time. Understand the time you have and know what to do with the time, for time can lose its essence with time. If you ignore the real reasons why you wake up each day, you ignore the real reason why you continue to live each day. Life is just once...so take the chance and mind your mind.”
Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Project365: Life Is Here Today

“It is a new day for a new thought, new identity, new ideas, new steps and new breathe! We may choose to repeat the mistakes of yesterday or think of the lessons from the mistakes of yesterday. We may choose to dwell on the fortunes or misfortunes of yesterday or think of what we can do with the fortunes or misfortunes of yesterday today! We may choose to continue or discontinue the steps we took yesterday today. Life is here today and we must think of what we can do today; for today was the vision of yesterday and the true foundation of tomorrow!”
Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
