The Cranberry Mountain Nature Center is located at the intersection of SR 39/55 and SR 150 in West Virginia. This is the closest to civilization between Richwood and Marlinton along SR 39/55 that one can get, although a short drive south on nearby US 219 into Hillsboro will also bring one to a bathroom and stores. Lots of neat info, exhibits, and clothing is available here, along with rangers who can answer most any question about the surrounding forests and wilderness. Right across the road from the entrance road to this facility is SR 150, also known as the Highland Scenic Highway, a beautiful drive which I shall detail in a separate post.
The trails behind the nature center are not to be missed as you will see in these pictures once I get past the informational signs at the center.
