First we have a small park and trailhead for the New River Trail are located in Galax, Virginia. The trail, part of an old abandoned railroad right-of-way commonly known today as Rails to Trails, is part of a large network of trails using these old railroad corridors for recreation, exercise, and even transportation between towns along the route.
Next is Potts Mountain Wayside along State Road 311 in Virginia, a small overlook and picnic area with some excellent views.
