Because the overlook was closed due to having decking boards replaced on the walkway approach, I obtained the above photo along with several others from the Buzzard Rock Overlook from an actual rock rather than on the deck platform. As I drove past the picnic area on my way to the parking lot to the Visitor Center, I remember seeing the truck parked on the sidewalk leading to the overlook and wondering what was going on. This overlook at Grayson Highlands State Park is also the start/end of a strenuous hike on the Listening Rock Trail and is quite popular with folks coming up to the Visitor Center.
Love the pictures Erik! I'm going to try to do some car camping this summer; I have to take time off work to do it, and don't get paid vacation, so I haven't done much of it, but I'm getting older, and I think I'll take a couple weeks and go over to Idaho, it's a very rural state right next door to me.
