This is a forest clearcut located along Chattooga Ridge Road in South Carolina. One can't help but notice them due to the stark contrast with the surrounding intact forest. Mostly barren with nothing but slash left, this practice is terrible for soil erosion.
Not too far from this location is Wigington Highway located in between SR 130 and SR 107, and along the road is a gorgeous overlook where one can look down upon Lake Jocassee and the mountains in the distance.
