Special Issue: End of an Era
The Swinney Park Swimming Pool was closed in 2009 amidst declining attendance and rising maintenance costs; more specifically, an added $30,000.00 to install drain covers to meet a new law along with other physical improvements. This post is the last in a series of three about the Amana Colonies in Iowa. Here I will display the last of my pictures from this fascinating place. I wish to give credit and much thanks to all my friends who helped me make this trip possible. Special mentions go to June Hoffman, Melanie Spurr, Wendy Bandurski, John Ludi, Leon Pendleton, Lyxia Eithne, Suzanne Hickman, and the admins at NTHEL. I am forever grateful for the inspiration, ideas, and all the help each of you gave to me!
