Sylvan Cellars Event Center and the Kneipp Springs Sanitarium (Hospital)

 

The Sylvan Cellars Event Center and the Kneipp Springs Sanitarium (Hospital) are located across Northport Road from each other at Rome City, Indiana, and were originally all part of the same complex. The history of this complex is quite interesting, as it used to be a health spa/resort back in its heyday. 

 

Brush Ridge Fire Tower and Delt Church Park

 

The Brush Ridge Fire Tower is located in Tar Hollow State Forest in Ohio. Despite what the Ohio DNR website claims about the fire tower being open to climb in good weather, the bottom portion of the stairs have been removed, making it difficult for most people to climb. Delt Church Park is located just outside of the small towns of Topeka and Rome City in Indiana on a gravel road. The park is in a large Mennonite community, so one can expect lots of horses and carriages in the park along with plenty of good 'ole road apples (barnyard biscuits, meadow muffins, cow patties, buffalo chips, horse buns, horse dung, etc.).

The Lowther Store and Wheeler, West Virginia

 

You may recall these pictures from an article I wrote quite some time back. This is the now-defunct Lowther Store in Wheeler, West Virginia. It is located just 4 miles outside of Hacker Valley and is relatively easy to get to. A beautiful overlook of the valley is located a small distance from the store, which is where the rest of the pictures were taken of Wheeler that are not of the store property.
